Forklift training in London, delivered where you work
If your business needs forklift operators trained, tested and certificated, speak to Forklift Agency on 0330 330 9495.
Forklift Agency has trained businesses in London since 2007; in fact our very first job was in the capital. Since then we have delivered more than 3,000 courses across the UK, and London remains the place we train most often. Our instructors are registered with the accrediting bodies whose certificates the Health and Safety Executive recognises, and they come to you: your site, your trucks, your aisles, loading bays and yards. Training is built around the tasks your operators actually do, so they are safe and productive from their first shift.
London is a hard place to run a training centre and a harder place to send staff to one. So we do not. Whether you are a cash and carry in Southall, a freight forwarder at Heathrow, a market trader at New Covent Garden, a builders' merchant on the Old Kent Road or a distribution centre in Dagenham, the instructor arrives at your premises with a laptop or tablet for the safety videos, the theory material, the cones and all the paperwork the course needs. You provide the truck and a safe area; we provide everything else.
Every instructor has been vetted by us, has worked with Forklift Agency for years and carries their own public liability insurance. Certificates are usually posted within 14 days of training where a credit account is in place, or 28 days where payment is received by other means. Credit accounts are available to businesses subject to a credit assessment; the first booking is paid in advance.
More about Forklift Agency · What the law requires of employers
Every type of forklift truck
One page per truck category, with what the machine does, what the course covers and how long it takes.
Counterbalance Forklift
The truck most London businesses own. Forks at the front, a heavy counterweight at the back and nothing sticking out to get in the way of a lorry bed, a container or a pallet stack.
Reach Truck
The high-bay warehouse truck. Straddle legs for stability and a mast that reaches into the racking, so the truck can work aisles a counterbalance could never turn in.
Double Deep Reach Truck
A reach truck with a telescopic pantograph that places a second pallet behind the first, fitting far more stock into the same floor space.
4-Way (Multi-Directional) Reach Truck
The long-load truck. All four wheels turn through ninety degrees so timber, steel, pipe and board can travel sideways down an aisle not much wider than the truck.
VNA Truck (Man-Up and Man-Down)
Very narrow aisle trucks run in wire- or rail-guided aisles barely wider than a pallet, with the forks swivelling to serve both sides while the truck stays straight.
Bendi and Flexi (Articulated) Forklift
The truck that bends in the middle. An articulated front end lets one machine unload the lorry in the yard and stack in very narrow aisles inside.
How on-site forklift training works
- Tell us the truck, the people and the postcode. Use the quote form or call. We quote a fixed price, usually the same working day.
- We book an instructor around your shifts. Early mornings, nights or weekends, subject to availability, at the same price. In London that often means starting before the roads fill up.
- The instructor arrives with everything. Safety videos, theory material, cones and test papers. You supply the truck, a safe area and one parking space.
- Theory, pre-use checks, practical, test. Our six-element course, delivered entirely at your premises, around your operation.
- Certificates are posted to you. Within 14 days on a credit account. Your operators are trained and your records are in order.

Questions we get asked
Do you train individuals who want a forklift licence?
No. Forklift Agency trains businesses only, on site at premises where forklift trucks are available. If you are an individual in London looking for a course, our Forklift Training Centres website lists centres by region, or search for "forklift training centres" on Yell.
Where does the training happen?
At your premises, on your trucks, in the environment your operators actually work in. We do not run a training centre in London or anywhere else. The instructor brings everything else: the safety videos on a laptop or tablet, theory material, cones, test papers and the certificates.
Which accrediting bodies do you work with?
Our instructors are registered with RTITB, AITT or ITSSAR, the accrediting bodies whose certificates are recognised by the Health and Safety Executive under the Approved Code of Practice L117. Every instructor has been vetted by us, holds their own public liability insurance and has worked with Forklift Agency for years.
How long does a forklift course take?
A novice counterbalance course for three candidates takes three days. Reach trucks, VNA, telehandlers and articulated trucks take longer. Refresher and conversion courses are normally one day, and powered pallet truck courses can be half a day. We confirm the duration in the quote.
How many people can one instructor train?
Three novices on one truck is the accredited-body maximum. Refresher courses can take more candidates in a day. For bigger groups we send more than one instructor or run consecutive courses, whichever costs you less.
Do you charge more for nights or weekends?
No. Our instructors fit into your shift pattern, including early mornings, nights and weekends, at no extra cost, subject to availability. In London that often means starting before the roads fill up or training after the last delivery.
